You don't have a key So you hit on the door Hope there's something to see That you haven't before It will never appease But you knew all along When you got to the streets That you wouldn't belong In the city you loved Turn you out in the cold Where the more that you feel Then the less that you show It's giving you none Of the cards that it holds Never in on the deal When you thought it was home It's not what it seems From the edge of the night You're out of the dream When you're into the lights What you want it to be Well it never comes What you want it to sing Will never be sung In the city you loved Turn you out in the cold Where the more that you feel Then the less that you show It's giving you none Of the cards that it holds Never in on the deal When you thought it was home

Shadow Light 03:30
In the quiet Darkest heart of this night I'll have known This home for the last time I lost the fight To stay a part of your life Now on my own I'll walk the roads and low tides Darkness covers lonely streets So I'll need... The moon to shine its shadow light A candle above to flood the night The song of May When I heard you calling Has gone away Now the snow has fallen Before you wake I'll be lost from your side Long past the lake Steal away from your eyes Darkness covers lonely streets So I'll need... The moon to shine its shadow light A candle above to flood the night

Wolf Moon 02:10
The river was before you The city it was snowbound On a night of cold blue That they've all forgotten now They never tried to know you No-one saw you leave town Walking with an old moon That they've all forgotten now What's on the wind? The lowland's talking What's on the wind? Do they keep calling you Back again, but there's no stopping Do they keep calling They keep calling They keep calling They keep calling back?

No light on the road The river's all I see That ties me to home And I can hear it speak You'll sleep if you come to me You'll sleep if only you would come to me You'll sleep if you come to me You'll dream if only you would come to me A night in the cold The snow beneath my feet A sigh from the ghost That always follows me You'll sleep if you come to me You'll sleep if only you would come to me

Munich 02:39
Munich, be my Cover on the run from a long line Of hard luck cases Had to put an end to relations Is there nowhere I won't find Trouble coming down like a landslide? Where my whole life is fated? Want to make up time that I've wasted Munich, hold tight Don't you know my life was a long climb Of hard-won stages? Now I want to rip out the pages And to know where I won't find Trouble coming in from the outside Now the moonlight's faded Want to make up time that I've wasted 'Cause you lose enough on the road to the sun

about

Started as a make-work project during the pandemic. A collection of sparsely-arranged songs, with lyrics inspired by a Schubert song cycle: the story of a man leaving the home of his fiance in the middle of a winter night and (in this version) wandering in the forests of Upper Austria and Bavaria.
